Here we hold space for ourselves
Meet Dr. Steph
I am Dr. Stephane Louis, LMFT, a therapist, writer, qualified supervisor, instructor, and introvert. I am the executive director of Holding Space for Ourselves Inc. As a queer woman of Haitian descent, I explore different ways the intersectionality of culture, family, identity, and sexuality can impact our lives. I am fascinated by stories of vulnerability, always looking for strengths and solutions. I help people feel safe to be themselves and go from where they are to where they can be.
Our Purpose
Holding Space For Ourselves was founded to address disparities in mental health care for women of color and LGBTQIA+ individuals. We provide culturally competent therapy and life coaching that resonate with our clients' lived experiences. Since our inception, we've served nearly individuals of diverse ethnicities, genders, and sexual orientations, ages 20-65. Our commitment to equity ensures that everyone, regardless of their background, receives relatable and relevant mental health services. We strive to improve mental health understanding within historically underserved communities, fostering wellness and empowerment.
We can help.
Our Services
We promote mental health awareness through services offered by the Holding Space For Ourselves organization include: Mental wellness access, life coaching, LGBTQIA+ affirming, navigating faith & sexuality, mindfulness, mental health therapy. Our approach to this care is through family and marital therapy, trauma-informed care, and Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
Our Mission
At Holding Space For Ourselves, our mission is to center the mental health of women of color and LGBTQIA+ people. We strive to build a supportive community where individuals can access culturally competent therapy and wellness services. Through our work, we aim to reduce the barriers to mental health care and ensure that everyone, regardless of their background, can achieve mental wellness and live a fulfilling life.
Our Difference
Our therapists, who share similar cultural backgrounds and experiences, provide care that is deeply empathetic and relatable. This connection fosters a safe space where clients can address their mental health without fear of judgment or misunderstanding. Our services are designed to be affordable, with session fees significantly lower than typical therapy costs, ensuring that more individuals can access the care they need. However, the demand for these services often exceeds our current capacity.
